The many recent stories about attempts to hack the vote, as well as nearly weekly stories about data leaks from large corporations have dramatically illustrated the need for stronger controls over data integrity. A number of companies and individuals are advocating a close look at blockchain technology as it relates to electronic voting because of how it may ensure privacy and security – like here and here.
I’m aware that this technology, like all new and promising systems, is being hyped, over-sold and misunderstood. But it still may have a place in future voting systems, no?
